The car illustrated is a 1969 Merlyn MK 9. Originally, this car ran with a 1 litre F3 ‘Screamer’ engine and was later adapted, in period to MK11 Formula Ford specification. If you look very carefully at the ‘undressed’ picture at the top of this page, you will see evidence of its’ earlier incarnation: there are additional strengthening tubes and cross members in the chassis.This Merlyn Mk 9/11 has been constantly raced since 1969 and is now run by a brother and sister team in the Formula Ford AND Classic Racing Cars Championship.
